Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has recovered $5.8 million in stolen funds from last month’s Axie Infinity exploit.
The funds were distributed across 86 accounts. This was announced by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao.
“A hacker group from the DPRK began moving stolen Axie Infinity funds today. Some of it went to Binance, distributed across more than 86 accounts. $5.8 million was recovered,” he reported.
On March 23, hackers hacked into Ronin’s sidechain and stole $625 million in ETH and USDC.
In April, U.S. authorities linked the Ethereum address with the stolen funds to the Lazarus group, which allegedly operates for the DPRK.
The same group is also involved in the $280 million hack of the KuCoin exchange in 2021.
