Home / Coinbase to give away $100 million in cryptocurrency at Superbowl

At one of the Suprbowl matches, Coinbase Exchange ran a minute-long ad with a QR code bouncing across the screen that invites viewers to participate in a major cryptocurrency giveaway worth more than $100 million
New customers who join Coinbase before Feb. 15 will receive $15 in BTC to get started on the platform. New and existing Coinbase customers will then be able to enter a drawing for a chance to win 1 of 3 prizes of $1 million.
The ad sparked a quick reaction on Twitter, where Coinbase began trending within minutes of going live.
“This may be the most effective ad during the Superbowl! Is it just me, or did you turn on the camera on your phone and scan the QR code too?” – FoxNews host Michael Estim said on Twitter.
Many associated the ad with the days of DVD players and praised Coinbase for not making any high-profile statements about cryptocurrencies in the video.
Earlier, the exchange FTX launched a similar contest with a bitcoin giveaway.
