Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange CryptoCom said it has awarded a four-year grant to the Digital Currency Initiative (DCI) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab.
The amount of the grant remains unknown. The money will be used to support DCI’s research into bitcoin security and the development of the open-source protocols that underlie the network.
“The MIT Digital Currency Initiative plays a critical role in creating a sustainable blockchain ecosystem, particularly by strengthening the underlying bitcoin protocol,” said CryptoCom Chief Operating Officer Eric Anziani.
CryptoCom has also supported the Secure Blockchain Initiative from Carnegie Mellon University, which aims to make the network more secure.
