Sam Bankman-Fried cryptocurrency exchange FTX has invested in the U.S. national stock exchange, Investors Exchange (IEX).
FTX US signed a strategic investment agreement with IEX Group to jointly create a marketplace structure for buying, selling and trading digital asset securities.
IEX and FTX US plan to close the deal in May 2022.
The new collaboration aims to provide services to retail and institutional investors.
FTX CEO Bankman-Fried said the partnership with IEX will further build the structure of the crypto market and collaborate with regulators.
“The investment in IEX has opened up tremendous opportunities for FTX US. With this investment, we have joined one of the most trusted and innovative companies in the stock markets,” he added.
IEX co-founder and CEO Brad Katsuyama emphasized that the partnership with FTX is designed to help the US become a major player in the world of digital assets through dialogue with regulators.
FTX and IEX also plan to introduce a new initiative that seeks to engage all investors in dialogue with regulators about the future of the digital asset security structure.
