Kyrgyz MP Karim Khanjeza called for the legalization of cryptocurrency in the country during a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Law and Order and Fighting Corruption.
In his speech, MP Khanjeza advocated for the development of a legal framework for the cryptocurrency market and proposed amendments to the bill to include virtual assets.
“Nothing grows as fast as cryptocurrency,” he added.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan is ideally suited to take advantage of the growing popularity of cryptocurrency and suggested launching its own national digital currency.
Hanjeza added that the government should focus on developing a sovereign national digital currency, which the National Bank is not paying attention to.
He also advocated the creation of a cryptohub in the country by attracting highly qualified professionals in the field.
