Meta has filed five trademark applications for its new digital payment platform Meta Pay.
Meta Pay is described as “an online social networking service for investors to make financial transactions and exchanges of digital currency, virtual currency, cryptocurrency, digital and blockchain assets, digital tokens and crypto-tokens.”
According to the application, Meta Pay will also offer digital asset lending services.
In December 2021, the company purchased the domain name MetaPay for $60 million.
Previously, the company shut down its Diem Stablecoin project amid significant opposition from regulators around the world. Project assets were later sold to the American cryptocurrency bank Silvergate.
