MetaMask Wallet, owned by ConsenSys, announced updates for iPhone users. One of the main updates was the ability to buy cryptocurrency with a debit or credit card through the wallet’s mobile app.
MetaMask uses two payment gateways, Wyre and Transak, to confirm the transaction. Thanks to the Wyre API, users can now use their Visa and Mastercard cards from Apple Pay.
Gas fees are also lower thanks to this integration. Some users have reported that transactions have been completed with no fees.
In addition, Transak’s latest update allows customers to make bank transfers and use credit/debit cards to purchase cryptocurrency using different fiat currencies. According to the company, U.S. users can now also buy native Fantom and Avalanche tokens. Exact payment methods and fees vary by location.
“We wanted to expand the way users can convert cryptocurrency in the app itself without leaving the app,” said Director of Communications and Content James Beck.
He also said more integrations are coming that will “maximize” opportunities and “simplify” the purchase of cryptocurrency.
