Monero users are concerned that one mining pool controls most of the hash rate

Home / Monero users are concerned that one mining pool controls most of the hash rate

Monero mining pool “MineXMR” now controls 44% of the hash rate. According to some users, this poses risks to the security of the network.
Users’ concerns are due to the fact that the pool is close to controlling 51% of the hashrate. If it can achieve this, it could theoretically conduct a 51% attack.
In addition, MineXMR controls almost twice as much computing power as the second and third pools combined.
Controlling the network does not mean that the target will necessarily attack the network or even attempt to do any damage to it.
However, the community has called for the pool to limit the hash rate on its own.
