The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic appealed to the citizens of the country in connection with the spread of cryptocurrencies in the state.
The regulator stated that the only legal means of payment on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic is national currency – som, and the use of virtual assets when buying and selling goods and services is a violation of the law.
The National Bank named the absence of material security of cryptocurrencies, absence of their real value and lack of regulation, as the main risks of using digital assets.

“The lack of real value of cryptocurrencies due to the fact that they are usually not tied to any currency or other asset, which generates high risks of exchange rate volatility and loss of value,” the document said.
