The New York Senate passed legislation this morning that would impose a moratorium on new Proof-Of-Work-based cryptocurrency mining operations.
Thus, all new mining operations that rely on carbon fuel to support their operations will be banned for two years. Existing mining companies will be able to continue operations.
The bill will take effect after Governor Kathy Hokul signs it.
