Former Binance US CEO Catherine Colley has hired former federal prosecutor and top agent from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) James McDonald as an attorney.
McDonald will represent Kohli in the U.S. government’s investigation against the Binance exchange.
McDonald previously represented Colley as her legal counsel in a separate civil trial against Binance US in January 2022.
On Monday, the CFTC filed charges against Binance and its CEO and founder, Changpeng Zhao. Coli’s name was not mentioned in the CFTC lawsuit.
The Justice Department also investigated Binance for money laundering and sanctions violations.
Coli herself launched Binance US in 2019 and resigned two years later.
