SBI Africa Co. Ltd. announced that its used car sales site SBI Motor Japan has begun accepting bitcoin and Ripple (XRP) as a means of payment.
The company said the move is due to the growing demand for cryptocurrencies in developing countries, especially in Africa, where people still lack access to basic financial services.
According to SBI, more than 1.7 billion people around the world still do not have access to basic financial services and are therefore unable to engage in useful activities.
