Coinbase Exchange said it has received a Wells-type notice from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding certain digital assets registered to Coinbase, Coinbase Earn, Coinbase Prime and Coinbase Wallet.
Coinbase said it will not be changing existing products or services.
Wells’ notice suggests that the firm should provide a reasoned response in writing explaining why the SEC should not take legal action against the company.
For its part, Coinbase said the cryptocurrency regulatory framework in the U.S. needs more guidance, not stronger enforcement.
