According to the Nashville Post newspaper, the state of Tennessee is seeking a contractor to hold cryptocurrencies on behalf of the state.
The state treasurer’s office issued a request to potential vendors and asked them to explain how their companies would manage the virtual currencies.
Tennessee does not currently own cryptocurrency, but is looking for a vendor to “be prepared in case unclaimed virtual currency is transferred to the state’s unclaimed property program.”
The state plans to announce the winning bidder on May 10.
