Spain’s leading cryptocurrency exchange Bit2Me received approval from the Bank of Spain and became the first cryptocurrency service provider in the country.
The Bank of Spain recognized that the company meets “the requirements of commercial and professional integrity established for credit institutions, as well as the rules for the prevention of money laundering.”
Bit2Me will now be able to provide Spanish banks with a white-label service allowing them to trade cryptocurrency on their platforms. A company spokesperson said they are already in talks with “several banks.”
In October, the Bank of Spain issued instructions to institutions on how to register with the central bank to legally offer cryptocurrency-related services.
