Nigerian government spokesman Bayo Onanuga has denied that the country is demanding a $10 billion fine from Binance. He attributed this to the BBC misquoting him.
He said he had said that the government “could impose huge fines” but that no decision had been made.
Binance said it knew nothing about the fines and indicated that it had no desire to negotiate any fines with the Nigerian government.
Earlier, the Nigerian government accused the P2P platform from Binance of involvement in the devaluation of the naira. In turn, residents of Nigeria wrote that the collapse of the naira is influenced by stupid government policies, not some P2P service.
