The State Duma registered a new draft of the law “On Mining in the Russian Federation” dated May 20. The previous document was withdrawn. The bill contains several significant changes compared to the previous version presented by the co-authors on April 29.
While the overall text remains unchanged, the new draft lacks a subsection on the mining registry, which companies would have to join in order to continue their operations.
In the new version of the document, miners must register as sole proprietors or self-employed to continue operating. Companies will follow the standard corporate registration process.
The new version of the bill also removed the amnesty provisions that the authors of the previous version of the law proposed to introduce for a year for miners who registered in the register.
