The creation of the education center aims to combat “the illegal use of digital assets, as well as provide information about the security of digital assets and how to keep them safe.”
Jeremy Sheridan, assistant director of the U.S. Secret Service’s Office of Investigations, said the center is dedicated to “investigating financial crimes.” It aims to “identify, arrest and prosecute individuals involved in digital asset crimes.”
The service recognizes that “digital currencies and cryptocurrencies continue to become an increasingly popular form of payment,” so the secret service must ensure user safety.
