Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin criticized the moratorium on mining using electricity generated from carbon sources adopted in New York.
“I’m against the PoW ban. The government choosing which specific applications can use electricity and which can’t is a bad idea. It’s better to just impose a carbon fee and use some of the revenue to compensate low-income consumers,” he said.
This week, the New York State Senate approved a ban on Proof-Of-Stake mining and imposed a two-year moratorium on it.
