Fiction writer Neal Stephenson will launch his own blockchain, Lamina1.
Neal Stephenson is a popular science fiction writer who explored the concept of a virtual reality world called the meta-universe in his 1992 science fiction novel Avalanche.
Former Bitcoin Foundation chairman Peter Wessenes also participated in the project.
Lamina1 is expected to be a first-level blockchain that will be the base solution for an open metaclass universe.
A beta version of the project is planned to be unveiled in late 2022.
The authors of the project also said they will focus on monitors and 2D projection rather than VR headsets.
One of the investors in Lamina1 was Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin.
