According to a survey by the El Salvador Chamber of Commerce, out of 337 companies surveyed between January 15 and February 9, only 14% of companies said they have made transactions in BTC since the Bitcoin Law came into effect.
More than 90% of companies indicated that the adoption of bitcoinp in the country had little impact on their sales.
It is important to note that El Salvador has been using the U.S. dollar standard since 2001. Unlike the currencies of other emerging economies, El Salvador’s main medium of exchange is not subject to exchange rate volatility. Thus, even in this environment, more than one in ten companies in the country began using bitcoin in their operations in just a five-month period.
