“I like to invest in something that gives value. The value of companies is based on how they produce great products. The value of cryptocurrency is based on someone deciding what a person is willing to pay for it. It doesn’t add value to society like other investments,” he said.
In February 2021, Gates urged retail investors to be careful about investing in cryptocurrencies.
“If you have less money than Ilon, you should probably be more careful,” he said.
