China’s Supreme People’s Court has urged the local judicial system to adopt blockchain technology to link courts across the country by 2025.
The Supreme Court said in a statement that blockchain could use the verification and exchange of court data, legal documents and reports.
The document notes that more than 2.2 billion court briefs are already stored on blockchain.
The court said that blockchain will also improve the efficiency of court processes, by making it easier to register cases, conduct inquiries and verify information, and help effectively link different court systems.
In addition, the regulator proposed cross-network cooperation between the court, law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
The document also notes that the court should collaborate with various blockchain platforms to improve intellectual property protection, streamline the business environment, corporate bankruptcy and reorganization, and make the social credit system more efficient.
