Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey confirmed today that the company will start a crypto crackdown as an ongoing effort to limit fraud and protect users, following the increased number of user complaints about fraudulent accounts and scam artists populating the social media space. In his statement, Dorsey said: ‘Under this new policy, the advertisement of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and token sales will be prohibited globally’.

However, this is not a total ban. Crypto exchanges and wallet services listed on certain major stock markets will be able to continue advertisements. And in Japan, the exchanges that are under the country’s Financial Services Agency regulation will also be allowed to advertise.
