According to CoinDesk, the European Commission is considering severely restricting the widespread use of stablcoins instead of fiat currency.
According to the publication, European Union officials have strongly opposed Facebook’s Libra Stablecoin because of the threat to the euro.
The document is labeled “unofficial” and was submitted as part of the voluminous cryptocurrency legislation.
According to the documents, regulators can oblige issuers of any Stablecoin to ban their additional issue if the number of transactions with their instruments exceeds 1 million per day and the capitalization is 200 million euros.
