Portugal’s Bison Bank received permission from the Central Bank of Portugal (Banco de Portugal) to operate as a virtual asset service provider (VASP). Thus, the institution became the first bank in the country to receive permission from the regulator.
The bank received an “all categories” license, which allows it to offer cryptocurrency swaps, store digital assets, make transfers to other wallet addresses, and store private keys.
Bison Bank is wholly owned by a Chinese company and will position its crypto services for affluent clients.
