Intel has announced a second-generation Blockscale ASIC bitcoin mining chip.
The company said the new chip will provide more power efficiency and will go on sale in the third quarter of 2022.
Key features of the new chip include a dedicated ASIC processor with a secure hash algorithm-256 (SHA-256). The hashing speed of the miner is up to 580 GH/s and the energy efficiency is up to 26 J/TH. In addition, the device can integrate up to 256 integrated circuits, and the total performance of such a system would exceed 140 terahashes per second.
Argo Blockchain, Block Inc., Hive Blockchain Technologies and GRIID Infrastructure will be the first customers using Intel chips.
