Iran’s judiciary blocked Pavel Durov’s messenger and accused the app of allowing armed opposition groups to fuel unrest. The order to ban country’s most popular social network, used by 40 million, which is almost half of country’s population, comes after Iranian president banned all state workers from using foreign messenger apps. As an alternative, the officials tried to establish local social media messenger, called Soroush, but it failed to replace Telegram, with only 5 million users.
