At the Scaling and Digital Disruption in Fintech conference, Ripple vice president Asheesh Birla said that the company is planning to conduct a large-scale expansion in the Indian market with an aim to outshine Bitcoin. The initial plan was to give out the cryptocurrency to all 2 billion people living in India. 2 billion XRP is equivalent to $880 million. However, given the difficulties of distributing the cryptocurrency among so many people, Ripple decided to conclude a strategic agreement with the country’s largest banks.
