The research done by Cybersecurity Carbon Black, shows that hackers use darknet for large-scale thefts of cryptocurrency. The access to the darknet requires a special software, which then enables hackers to carry out anonymous activities. There are 12000 trading spots, that hackers can use. Such malicious software solutions cost around $224, and some even have customer support services. Cryptocurrency exchanges were the main target of cybercrime this year, which is 27% of total attack number. The most frequent target of scammers is BTC – 10% of hackers, Ethereum – 11%, and Monero – 44%. The biggest number of incidents related to the theft of cryptocurrencies was recorded in the USA (24), China (10) and Great Britain (8).
