Home / UK regulator has scaled back the number of UK cryptocurrencies operating under temporary registration status

The number of companies with temporary registration status, which are allowed to offer cryptocurrency services to UK residents decreased from 12 to 5.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has allowed CEXIO, Revolut, Copper, Globalblock and Moneybrain to continue operating.
On March 30, the FCA said it would extend temporary registration status to a small number of firms.
In the UK, companies that are allowed to operate with cryptocurrency assets must either be registered with the FCA or be granted provisional status.
The regulator also said that being on the list does not mean that a company is deemed to be “approved.”
The FCA also said it would hire 80 employees to help straighten out any troubled companies.
